bought a Y49 on Honda 50th anniversary
long time owner and member
Last month i bought a Y49, o the 50th anniversay of Honda.
This is like my 6th CRX
This Y49 was my cousins car for the last 12 years. I gave him some advice when he purchased it so he could get a good one He passed away last fall from cancer.
His sister inherited the car when he passed, and before I could arrange buying it from her, she sold it to someone in her family. That person bought it for his son who was at the time living in Africa and was going to come back and drive it while going back for more college. unfortunately, this person was killed by a crocodile in Africa in a freak bad thing.
I was able to finally get my cousins Y49 and it was on Tuesday the Honda 50th Anniversary.
I have put the car in storage, but will put pics up soon. It is completely 100% stock except the radio. It has never been repainted and is very nice and one of the nicer ones, it turns heads. But i know of the curse.
watch for upcoming pics. you will be amazed at this survivor

A lot of cleaning type TLC and detailing will bring this up to par. A little claybar and wax will make it pop.
Its a great platform to stay stock.
Hasnt been cleaned for a few years now or longer, and I know my cousin stored it in a barn most of the time. He said he never did wax it. I know there is potential in this car.....what are your thoughts?

Just realized this thing has 3 Left wheels and only 1 right wheel. I guessI will have to fix that too with my pile of parts wheels
may just sell it, i am not really into having this many CRX to keep going.

yeah the curse...well when i went to get the car title transferred to my name i realized i still had the title in the folder in the sotrage compartment behinde the seats.
I had the car in a way so close to my other cars, i decided to use the rear hatch to get to the title.
Well, the rear hatch key slot hasn't been used for quite some time, i thought i was going to break the ket off. So i go a grab to the hatch release by the driver door. pulled it, opened the hatch (surprisingly the hatch sturt stays stil hold it open well)
anyway, went to close th hatch after grabbing the tiitle, and yeah the hatch latch is stuck in open. I slamme dit several times, went to can and puslled and pushed the handle release, still not latching.
Then it got cold so no messing with interior plastics when it is like 20 degrees cold where the car is. I will have to wait til spring to pull the interior trim back panel, and pull the middle "CRX light center panel" just to lube up the mechanisms and get that to latch the correct way again.
