Default New to Hondas. Very noob question.

As a project car I bought a 1995 Gen. 4 Prelude. I want to begin restoring and modifying it, but I've found that there are about 5 different engines these things came stock with and all I have to tell which mine has is this bad picture and the internet. So please feel free to let me know all the specs and info on mine if you can tell. Thanks!

Find the place on the motor where the Honda Engine ID # is. Clean it off with some cleaner or a brush, its a stamped, 5 digit number and letter code.
Take that code and do a Google search or type it into Wikipedia. Search yourself.

Right Here:

Heres another photo outlining where the Honda Engine Code ID # is:

I think that only came in the Prelude S model... you don't see them much because most opt for the higher power motors so I'm not sure what can be done as far as upgrades. I had the H22 and loved that motor!

F22 is good for turbo but otherwise its pretty much waste of money to start building na F22

Basically either:

A) Spend about $1,500 tops on some bolt ons and expect no more than 30hp gains
B) Spend about $2,500- $3,000 on a cheap homemade turbo kit and drive it somewhat carefully, expecting about 100hp gains
C) Leave it alone and drive it, spending only what you need to keep it maintained, take care of it
D) Spend about $2,500 to swap the motor for something better

You could also just spend about $800 on an intake and exhaust so you can have the joy of working on your car yourself and enjoy the modest gains. What are your plans?

I would drive it, work on it, and learn everything you can. Once you know your way around it, go towards what you want with it.

I agree. It is hard to know where you want to go until you understand where you are. 😎👍
