I am adding a GPS tracking device to my a 2004 CR-V EX-L and it also has alarm functions that are activated by a door switch, ACC switch and a supplied vibration sensor.
I was able to wire the ACC easily by connecting to the wire going to the radio as that is where I placed the module. But for the driver door switch ( I have only one lead from the tracker which means I can connect to only one door switch) it looks like I will have to go directly to the multiplex control unit. Am I correct or is there an easier spot?
According to the drawing I downloaded from Haynes it is the dark green wire which goes directly to the MCU and also to the Security Control Unit Connector (optional ).
Where is that Security Control Unit located?
If I don't have that connector I will have to go to the MCU and I couldn't figure out which part of the MCU the wire is going to. I see a big block of fuses and I guess the MCU is attached to that. Does anyone have an idea of how to get to that wire, do I have to take the whole thing out?
How?
The factory security control unit and connector is located under the driver side dash.
The driver's door switch green wire (driver's door trigger) is at terminal no. 3 of the 22P green security connector. The passenger doors switches light green/red wire (for front passenger door, rear left passenger door, and rear right passenger door) is at terminal no. 2 of the 22P green security connector. You should connect both the green wire and light green/red wire and diode isolate each one. See this link regarding diode isolating the door trigger wires.
If you were just to connect to one of these and not both, one or more doors of the vehicle would not be protected by the alarm. The Honda door switches are negative trigger. So follow the instructions for negative trigger from the 12volt site.
