Default D16z6 Engine health for turbo

I've got a 94' civic I'm looking to turbo in the future. I was reading that I'm able to run maybe 10 psi in a stock D16z6. The engine has over 220k, I'm wondering if that would be a problem in a turbo build. I'm trying to collect as much information and make a good choice.

Treat your situation like walking into a yard with a beware of dog sign..... there are definitely different outcomes that could happen. If you have the money to be ready to rebuild......then go for it

I think this is good advice. I personally would not boost a stock, high mileage engine again.

The big deal about xx psi is that this will differ from turbo to turbo. Although, It's not entirely the boost or cylinder pressure you need to concern yourself with more so than the torque you produce. Torque can break parts.. The tune is paramount. There are some parts you SHOULD NOT leave out; headgasket, ARP head studs, clutch.. And for Pete's sake, don't skimp on the tune. Lol! Sound pointer below..

Yeah that makes sense, if I'm going to replace head gasket and ARP studs, I'll just pull it and build the rest.

Do a compression and go from there. If it shows subpar numbers, time to rebuild the bottom end. Don't be like countless others who think slapping on a turbo is going to yield miraculous numbers without any engine upgrades.
