Default Getting mixed opinion on this noise.

Happens around 2000-2500rpm

knock? Valve lifters?

Regardless of how many valve adjustments, its still there and it seems like its coming from the top.

UPDATE; I forgot to say that the sound happened after changing the timing belt and tensioner. Also got word from the very first owner of the car the camgear was adjusted at -4° retard. My question is, is -4° retard significant enough to have negative effect on the valves?

The car has ported intake and head, header, exhaust and and a chipped p06 box when i got it.

LMA

lost motion assembly likely.... Open up the oil cap and see if you see oil "spitting" around the valve springs. If not, you're not getting oil into the head. Either the oil orifice is clogged or your oil pump is TOAST. The oil orifice is underneath the LMA bracket, center of the cylinder head on the exhaust side.

oil orifice clogged or bad oil pump. Hopefully it's the OO instead of the OP.
