Hey Guys I just bought a JDM B20b Engine for $350 and Kinda having Trouble with what ECU to use :/
I got everything setup and it Runs but I think I might be having a ECU Problem. My Mph Gauges would work for awhile than go Completely to 0mph on Hwy
Not sure if the ECU that was running off my B20Z Motor would work for this JDM B20b?? My Question is do I need to swap out the ECU for this Engine b20b?
I'd a step dad run to see if there was Codes and got all kinds of Codes My car is a Honda Crv 99
Much Appreciated if anyone could help My B20b Under 50k miles
this post was from last month...so im probably wasting my breath. But I heard on the JDM's you have to use the usdm intake and exhaust manifold. Looks like the JDM intake manifold is installed. I am in the process of installing a jdm myself right now in my 99.
If this is going into your 1st gen crv you would use the ecu that came with your car. You also might want to verify any differences between the engines and swap parts that aren't on the jdm block.
I got the JDM engine/trans installed last night and ran it a little bit. I used the USDM intake and exhaust manifold, and it fired right up, and idled correctly. It did throw two codes for CKF, so I did the little bypass trick, that cleared the codes. I drove it around the block a few times, and seems to drive ok. but I noticed when I got back it has a noise, that I can not find. I can hear it at idle...its a rhythmic bump type noise. When I give it gas, I cant hear it any more, I used a screw driver as a stethoscope...trying to isolate it. Seems almost like it is coming from one of the lower intake runners...close to the block. New oil and filter, 180PSI across all cylinders...new timing belt. Valve train looked immaculate. I know its vague...but im open to ideas. Thanks!
