speedometer not working
I have a 92 accord LX manual transmission
The speedometer does not work. All other gauges in instrument cluster work fine.
Is this problem indicative of:
a bad VSS?
bad wiring?
bad speedometer circuit board?

Describing how the speedometer is failing can help to diagnose the issue. Does it always sit at 0? Does it bounce around even when in park? Does it turn off intermittently?
Can you use cruise control? It uses your speed sensor so failure here could point to it being that instead of your instrument cluster.
Unless you want to spend the money for a speed sensor and hope it works, it would be worth buying/using a multimeter to test all the connections to the sensor. If your speedometer never moves and cruise control doesn't engage then I do think it's the speed sensor. Buying cheap diagnostic equipment like a multimeter isn't a waste though if that's what is keeping you from troubleshooting.

everything else works, including the cruise control and yes I have verified odometer works on multiple occasions and in 2 different ways.
There is no park since it is a manual transmission
needle does NOT bounce but will engage around 40 or 45 but does not read accurately it jumps up about 10 or 15 mph above the actual speed.
I have a multimeter and have yet to test connections. I really don't want to pull dash apart just for testing unless I'm sure that's where the problem lies.

Like buckylou said, the cruise control works off the VSS too so if your cruise works and the speedo works sometimes but usually sits at 0 then its probably your cluster, especially if the odometer works, that means the cluster is getting voltage from the VSS.
