Ive recently purchased two civics. One a 96dx the other a 98 ex. My plan is to take the engine outta the ex and install it in the dx. Seeing how one is vtec and the other is not, im pretty sure im going to need the harness and ecm from ex for the vtec to work in the dx. My question is, will i encounter a problem with the trans in the dx once i install the ex engine in it. Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

 

trans will bolt up, but you haven't stated if its auto or 5spd.

 

Auto. I see someone by the name of hondapartshero wrote up a pretty lenghty post pertaining to this. Its basically a mini me swap. But im unsure if the ecus he is spreaking of are for the manual trans only. Im sure i can go on alldata and see if the pin outs are the same in the plugs associated with the shift solenids and speed sensors. But now im wondering if im going to have issues with the shift points from the tps. Is the resistance values the same on both tpses.im going to have to check
