New Transmission or Just a Fluid Change?
So my car has started shaking when i get to about 50 till i get to around 70 and then it stops. I've been doing a lot of research and apparently this is a common issue with the CRV's and people have learned (after doing 50000 things) that doing a transmission flush fixes the issue. (I also have already fixed 10,000 things to only find that none of them were the problem.) However, I have never done a flush so the local shop is recommending me to come in and do a fluid change, and not a full flush to avoid cause any more issues. (I like the honesty.) My question is, how do I know if my car needs this fluid change, or if I'm going to get there and they say my entire transmission is going bad? I'm very nervous that they will say it's time to replace the transmission. Is this something that only they will be able to diagnose by looking at it? Would a fluid change prolong the life of the transmisson??? I've never had to deal with transmission issues at all before so I'm totally nervous since most people say you're better off getting a new car than to replace a transmission...
I would like to hear the reasoning how a fluid change is supposed to fix a mechanical issue. If something is worn or broken, changing the fluid will not fix it. The recommended transmission fluid change interval is found in your owners manual. I would observe that in any case. I would not expect it to fix any shaking.
Other causes for shakes are bad inner axle joints (a small amount of play may be deceiving - some aftermarket axles can wobble right out of the box), alignment, or suspension components including joints and bushings.
