Hi, I'm new here, I recently rebuilt my wife's 2002 honda civic lx automatic transmission because it had started slipping for about a year and a half until one day it just wouldn't go anymore. I did weeks worth of research and asking transmission shops for estimates until I came to the conclusion that I should just try to do it myself. Long story short, I got it cleaned up and back together with new clutches, o-rings and filter. Get it back into the car and I have no reverse.
It was fine before this so took it back out inspected everything internal and it's all in the right place.
It is like it doesn't shift out of park until I get to drive, then it will shift into neutral after that but going to reverse is like it shifts back into park. And on one test drive I had put it in park on a slight downhill slope and it is like it wouldn't shift out of park until I pushed it back up the hill a fewhile inches then it released whatever was stuck.
Any help or ideas cause I'm stuck on this would be appreciated, thanks.

 

Sounds like you'll be pulling that thing back out to see what you did wrong .

 

Yeah I have no doubts about that, I've been reading through these posts and still can't find anything that would be close to my situation. Just trying to get an idea of where to start if anyone has one.

Well, an update, I took it back apart for the third time and I had the reverse gear on the counter shaft pressed too far on.
Everything seems to be working ok now.
