Default 96-00 Honda Civic Steering Issue

Hi All,
My car use to have power steering but the pump was leaking by the pulley so I removed the pump and connected the inlet metal pipe to the hose that connects to the fluid resavior. So now my steering is tight right. OK. No more leaks. Today 02 Sept 2019 I had my right inner cv joint replaced plus I had knew coilovers installed in the front. Drove home fine. Then earlier on when I went to pick up my wife from work, I noticed that when I turn left, then steering wheel kind of gets stuck and then when I turn the wheel right and then left again then it smooth sailing. On my way home drivers were hooting at me it was imbarassing. Got home jacked the front up and moved the wheels all the way right and left, no issue. Turned the steering wheel all the way right to left no issue. When the car is off I can turn the steering wheel all the way right to left but when the car is on and try to turn left then the steering wheel stops and then keeping it in the turning left position moving the car forward I hear a knock, just 1 knock and then the wheel goes all the way left. Do I need a new rack?
