Default ls vtec performance help

I just built a ls vtec with help of brother and friend. It is a 94 block slightly ported gsr head, civic si t/b,dc header, slightly ported gsr intake, short shifter, clutchmaster stage 1,type r pistons, cam gears set at zero, fuel reg ste at 48.The problem is I heard everywhere that these motor should be quick.I have 6 times at track.I can't get better than a 15.7 with a ls trans hard to get in second.I have a aftermaket switch to turn on vtec set at 5500 some noname chip for rpms.Is it all in the tunning wher should I start?Cam gears? it runs rich as hell when I punch it burns a little oil.Is this normal for these motors?Any help is greatly appriciated :

the car is a 94 integra, ecu is stock with some chip off ebay for the 8500 redline,I always run 93 gas,I tried air pressure at 20 and 30 made hardly any diff.My 60 ft times are between 2.392 to 2.494.I launch at 3 it takes off kind slow at 4 it wheel hop like a bastard,I tried shifting at 7500 and 8000 not to much diff.Factory wight in car with16s and low pros. I just shaterd the spider gears in trans so im going to put in one from a 95 b16A civic and tune the gears. Also have a sir2 intake to install.ill keep everyone posted on progress.Thanke to everyone for the positive help.

bump the fuel pressure back down to 43. Do you know anything about the chip you put in?
What kind of Tires/60 ft?
What's in the car weight-wise?
LS has a LONG *** third. Doesn't really help unless you have MADD hp (600+)
how hard is it to get into 2nd? Like try three times, or grinding?
Where do you shift?
Boxers or Briefs?
GSR Cams?
Try IN+2, EX-1 or 2 on Cam gears (Magic-butt-dyno-no-look-tuning)
Stock ECU?
Use a new Headgasket?
How much oil is burning, or just white smoke?

That's where to start.

what kind of car? what kind of ecu? what kind of fuel(89 or 93)?
sounds to me like you dont have good engine management. the ls trans is definitely not helping your cause either.
the oil issue is normal for people who don't get oversize type R pistons and bore and hone the block.

give us more info, son, then we can help
