Whine before and after installing new power steering pump
Hi all, newbe here..hope all are well. have a 07 CRV 4wd. Blew a high pressure power steering line. the car had a whine and it got louder as you drove it before blowing the line. Replaced the line and a new pump(150000 miles on car) and it still whines even a little louder..any help is appreciated. Steers fine again tho...new aftermarket pump and used Honda fluid.
It does matter as the worn O-rings create a turbulence of air and PS fluid which may produce the whine.
But this might be not the only possible source of whine. The idler and tensioner pullyes may whine too. Dunno what kind of tensioner your CRV has but if it is a bolt type vs spring loaded/hydraulic type, then an over-tightened belt could whine too.

Properly bleeding probably does not matter as the pump bleeds the system after a bit of driving and turning the steering wheel left and right a few times. I just had to drain the system completely and refilled back in and sent my family shopping. It had a scary whine at first, but it disappeared as they pulled out of the driveway.
But if you have persistent frothing in the tank, then it is an O-ring problem and likely the top one. Honda changed the spec and material for the O-rings since and the new ones work much better.
