Default Camshaft gear removal?

Having trouble holding the gears still to remove the bolts. End goal is to replace water pump. Strap wrench won't fit and starting to tear stuff up with screwdriver. Any suggestions on how to hold the gears without damage to anything?

The only way I've been able to loosen the bolt is with an impact wrench. Try to find a small electric impact if you don't have an air impact wrench.

Exactly as I do it... With the timing belt on you can normally get it loose with a quick snap of the wrench... Good luck

Why not just leave it in. There is absolutely no reason to remove the cam gear for a water pump.

true dat. Otherwise- impact wrench or QUICK snap of breaker bar. DO NOT stick a screw driver between cam gear and head
