Good afternoon all. This car has 155,000 miles and I've owned it for about 4 years and since 100,000 miles. Had an issue the last week where the ac clutch was really noisy, by the time i got home the ac belt snapped. I bought a kit with the ac compressor, dryer and expansion valve. I have now replaced all 3 as well as a new ac belt. When i replaced compessor it seemed locked up as i could not spin the pulley by hand. I exacuated the system for around 30 min and it got down to around -23 on the low side. I hooked up the manifold set and, turned on the car let get to temp turned on the ac and started to add refrigerant. Added about 1/2 can but it still will not blow cold. I noticed the clutch is not engaging and the ac fan is not turning on. Here is a pic of the readings on the manifold gagues . Just for reference it is around 80 degrees outside. Any additional help would be great.
The condenser fan should run. Check fuses 56 and 17, as well as the fan relay and A/C thermostat.
Also add refrigerant by WEIGHT, not by can. Otherwise, you'll continue to have a bad day.
The refrigerant static pressure (32 PSI) is borderline for closing the A/C switch. Until static pressure reaches ~100 PSI, the system is still basically empty.
When the fan issue is solved, continue to add refrigerant.
When an A/C compressor fails, standard protocol is to replace the compressor and condenser (minimally) and flush the entire system. It's a huge gamble to bypass standard protocol. Best of luck.
