Hello Forum,

I just recently purchased a 1998 Civic LX with a D16Y7 car right now is completely stock beside getting a full exhaust done as it needed it due to it being fully rotted out for being junked in a backyard but anyway I have the car in perfect conditions engine tranny and suspension wise after many parts and full tune ups, now I am thinking in adding more power to the car but by reading here in the forums doesn't seem ill get much out of this motor I am looking for something to keep up with B series and K series cars and ride it as a daily was thinking mini me project to add vtec to the car and also have been reading to just turbo it then I also read around about the Vitara pistons and boaring out so just looking for suggestions in what would be best or should I just buy a B or K series engine and just swap it?? please help any suggestions are helpful as I would get different points of views

I’d build what you have, then after you buid it, boost it to the moon! Is it an automatic or manual transmission?

These engines are cheap, and it kinda seems that you’re new to the Honda world (as am I). If you blow it up then get another one and try again. You’ll only be out 150$ for a good engine. The engines you mentioned are more than that.

take this car and use it as a learning experience with engine performance. Take what you learn from this job and then move on to a bigger better engine (B series/K, or even J series)
