anybody running the drag turbo kit on their 94-97 accord ex with the sohc vtec motor? if so, how do you guys like it? and how long have you guys had it in your cars? my car has about 84k miles on it, and im deciding if i should even bolt on a turbo kit. any opinions and comments would be appreciated. thanks
i don't know if he posts on this board, but accordfreak from board.hondasociety.com has a drag gen 4 kit(prototype i think) and he likes it. the fmax and drag kits are both good, but i personally would go with the fmax if you can't get the drag gen 4.
about your f22b1 motor, you should first do a compression and leakdown test to see how "healthy" your motor is. if you treated your car normally in the past, your engine should be fine at 85k miles(like not reving it to redline at every gear, allowing proper warm up before reving high, proper breakin, proper maintanance done, etc...).
the f22b1 and a turbo kit will produce massive torque at a reasonable 7-8 psi, because the f22b1 has a high rod-stroke ratio(compared to other honda motors) and makes more torque than hp is most cases(thats why it comes with 145 hp and 147 pd-ft stock). oh yeah, the f22b1 connecting rods are beefy and can withstand a beating(but nothing compares to aftermarket of course).
good luck, and if i had the money to spend i would definately get a turbo kit ASAP.
