Default Engine and tranny compatibility.... I know I know...

Ok so I know all d seres trannys will bolt up to all if not most d series engines... here’s my question.. first off I did my research and searched ok.. I didn’t find anything specific to my build so I’ll start it all off at the beginning

donor car I’m using for a build is a 97 civic I only wanted the shell but it came with a d15z1 and zc tranny installed in it.. I have them sitting in my garage now..

ok ok here’s my question I have a 2000 Honda Civic hx it has a d16y7 block... it’s an automatic (cvt) I was thinking about putting the zc tranny which I beleive is a jdm one, correct me if I’m wrong... in my 2000 civic so here’s the question will the zc tranny connect to it... people have said that it will on other d16 blocks but not mine in particular.. also people have mentioned something about not being able to use the stock axles?? Is this true? If so which one? Also will I need to change the ecu to the manual one that was in my donor car?

please just help no smartass “are you a noob” bullshit? I’m not a tard.. I’m almost done with my auto degree from college but this is something I’m coming to the Honda community about. You guys have some experience that I do not have! So please educate me lol

thanks guys!

What are you a noob??? Lol jk

It’s ok to be a noob, just be an humble one.

Anyway, I have no idea about that transmission bolting up to that engine, but the axles are going to be different.

And that’s exactly how you lose humility.

To be honest, I’m still noob level, but probably like level 3 or something. Is that zc transmission a manual?

If it bolts to any D16 it bolts to all of them, but the point about the mounts that was just made means you need to make your own mounts.

I have a 99 Civic sedan that I could possibly remove the bracket from the frame rail (trans side). Would he be able to weld that onto his and use a normal transmission mount and bracket?

Yep, the transmission bolts up just fine to the engine, but that HX CVT chassis is unique to itself

HX Manual Transmission Swap
