Plans -
Build a street car that rips on the weekend and can daily during the week!
I Found an EM1 from 1999 with 80k original miles and two owners... completely stock other than the interior. (Has SI seats from a more recent model and an S2k steering wheel... Also various type R updates like door panels, shift boot and center console)
Day 1 - Civic EM1 - Street Car - 08-01-2019
Drained and flushed all fluids
New brakes, rotors and calipers
Already have all parts for swap
b18c Bottom end- Golden Eagle Sleeves with Copper O-rings- Eagle Rods - Carillo Pistons @10.5 Compression
B16A2 Top End - Ferrea 6000 valves- Supertech 85lb Dual springs - Supertech Aluminum retainers- Supertech Retainers- CTR camshafts-
Golden Eagle Fuel rail- AEM F.P.R.- InjectorDynamics 1000cc injectors
Hondata s300 V3 with B.B.G.
Competition Stage 4 Clutch
Competition Ultra Lite Weight Fly-wheel
Go-Autoworks ramhorn turbo set up with Garrett BB turbo and intercooler.
There are honestly so many parts that I can't remember everything!
Will update thread with Pics of parts and progress.
Also video diary of the entire build.
So stay tuned for an ordinary 99' Civic EM1 to be turned into an extra-ordinary street car ready to rip the streets of texas!

Day - 2
After replacing and flushing all fluids I went to good ol' Amazon Prime and purchased new Fuel filter, Spark Plugs, and wires.
Next on the list is brakes... But before that happened on the way home the clutch got sloppy...
NOPE! Master and slave cylinder went Kapoot.
Both were leaking very bad so I had to head to AutoZone and get both.

This is the first GSR block I purchased
Hit it with the purple power and the grime and oil started to melt away.
The block looked good with small amounts of surface rust
Slowly removing the surface rust
After a nice bath I noticed in cylinder 3 there was a small imperfection. This block would need more than a good honing! DAMNIT!

After I realized the block I purchased wasn't going to work for my application I was kind of in a bind.
I had already purchased Pistons, Rods, crank etc and now I would need new pistons if I decided to go to 81.5 mm.
HMMMMM?
As I am pricing parts and deciding what to do, I found an ad for a block already complete.
Had a few days on the dyno and three runs down the track.
It was a no brainer.
The Golden Eagle sleeves had a small amount of surface rust but nothing I was concerned with at all!

OK so now I have a bunch of extra parts I wont be needing!
No problem! Now I can sell these and use the funds to further the project.
WRONG! I have been so busy I havent had any time to list or sell S***
Next on the list was to go ahead and get those brakes beefed up!
New rotors, calipers, pads etc!
The rear caliper actually froze up the day I replaced them! Perfect timing!

The B16A2 head was built with Blox Racing Components including: Valves, Dual Valve Springs, And stage 3 cams.
Everything was pulled and will be replaced with newer components.
These had about 6,000 miles on them!

New oil pan gasket has a metal insert and you can really torque it down and get a good seal
The valve cover was hydrodipped when I purchased the head. Im not sure this will go with the build.
It does look cool but the colors and drawings arent as good as a nice wrinkle finish
Just messing around with some long exposures

Since the block came with ARP head studs already installed... All I needed was the washers and nuts
Supertech Valve train about to go in! Dual valve springs and Aluminum retainers. They are supposed to wear less than titanium or steel. I guess we will see!?
All new gaskets for the top end will be going in

So for several months I have been buying parts and making sure to save a little longer for the stuff I really wanted.
The top end would have handled the HP goal just fine but for whatever reason... I just don't know if I truly trust blox.
I am investing a lot of money and would be super pissed if something failed and I hadn't just spent the extra money.
That being said the top end will be a mix of sh** but should all work together nicely!
The supertech valve springs and CTR cams work together nicely and for valves I went ahead and upgraded to Ferrea 6000 turbo series.
Honda or Ferrea... Theyre the best in my opinion.

Now that I have removed all the major components from the head its time to start getting into the nitty gritty.
Replacing all the gaskets, seals, and various washers and Sh**
Good thing we did the tear down. When we removed the valves we notice some damage to the valve stem seals as well as some other things.
Jesus people... You don't need that much damn HondaBond either!

Have to have a few things and new gauges are those things.
AEM will provide us with the Wideband - Boost & Oil Pressure gauges.
Debating how I want to mount them.
I have the good ol' A-Pillar or I can do the center console as well.
Hmmmmm?
Who knows? Undecided at the moment

Golden Eagle Copper O-Ring wire.... More than I'll ever need!
Geez louise this stuff seems pricey to me!
Anyway... While I have her open I am going to replace the Copper O-Rings in the sleeves
