Ect coolant temperature sensor replacement
I'm probably making this more complicated than it seems cause it's dark and rainy, but how do you remove the under the distributor ECT 2 pin sensor for ecu not gauge 1 pin? My deep sockets (18/19mm) go right over the plug and hex, and don't seem to have any room to take it out with a 17mm? Or whatever size wrench. Being a bit lazy and not wanting to remove distributor or other sensors or hurt my precious dizzy o ring. Thanks
Solved and a thread with only an op. I ended up breaking off the plug from the sensor because I had a good one already that just takes a 19 or 3/4 socket over the sensor to thread in. I don't know if that's normal practice on these ECT sensors but only way I could get it out. I got some junkyard ECT sensors from Very nice much newer Acuras and very easy to get with a 19mm I believe and they're right on top. Car runs great now cel code 6 gone and a couple others I think 5 and 14 that came up when the sensor died.
FWIW.
Use a large 1/2" drive deep impact socket to install and remove these sensors.
Typical 3/8" and some 1/2" drive normal sockets are not quite deep enough for the sensors.
