So I just picked up a 92 Accord LX with about 150k miles on it. It has some issues but one weird thing it does is make this strange sound from the rear of the car after turning the engine off. It lasts about 5 seconds and sounds like the noise air bag suspension would make in old Lincolns. It will also do it sometimes when I turn the key to run and the fuel pump is priming. I don't think it is the fuel pump because the sound can be heard in conjunction with the fuel pump prime when I have the key in the run position without starting. It is heard by itself after the car has been driven for about 20 minutes and the engine is shut off. Any help would be great. Thanks!

 

Does it have a power antenna? If so, that is probably what you are hearing. My 1992 Accord EX has one and I hear it each time they key is turned on or off.

 

I don't know, but that could very likely be it. I will pull that side panel and see if there is some sort of plug. I have an LX but maybe that was an option.
