Default 03+ accords: triumph, or tragedy?

So we all know the manual six speed 6 banger has great potential, its 240 horse with healthy torque, but is this it? Are Accords turning into it nemesis Camry? Are we going to be in the same boat; no available swaps, nothing to do except intake and custom bent exhaust? Its well known that the Accord is a heavy family car but we have found ways to make it fast such as turbo charging and swapping prelude motors and all. But somthing tells me we may not be able to enjoy these luxuries much longer. For axample, look at the civic and rsx: the only swaps are the civic si and rsx type s, and even those are much more complicated than dropping a b16 or b18c into a civic hatch. Not to mention with obd 2.5 or what ever it is, the computer can barely recognize any performance upgrades. So all this bring one question to my mind: Is honda slowly trying to put a halt to aftermarket performance? It seems with every new car honda comes out with, it gets more and more difficult to make perfomance improvements. I hope the new Accord won't follow this sort of trend.

it will.

Integrated exhaust manifold = bad thing.
Reversed motor orientation = bad thing.

Thank God at least for Hondata...

Well...yeah..and the so-call "FP" or factory performance
gonna put some TYPE-R badge on TYPE-S
with bodykits, interior detail, big *** wing..rims and
set of better suspensions and brakes for 4.8k...and call it RTR
come on ..we needed a TYPE-R even tho' the S is selling
strong... maybe it will come someday..or just another Honda rumor
but i dont think honda gonna pull something sweet from Japan for us..
let's save up for s2k or something..haha

yeah it seems as if honda is deliberately making it harder for us tuners to mod our cars now. and whats up with these new car engine bays, they're like covered with a shitload of plastic because its "pretty looking", BS!

yea......supposedly, they're covering as much engine bay as possible to give it the luxury look, which is a nightmare for modding and does NOT match on the RSX, which is a sports car.....i personally prefer the more open and revealing engine compartment of the B18C5 integra type R's engine bay than the covered look of the rsx. Just my $0.02

You are comparing a platform that is brand new to one that has well over 10 years of R&D behind it.

be patient, i'm sure the true power of the new honda motors will be realized

i dont know, i kind of like the back end. it gives it a bit more of a classy look but i think some of the body pannels are a little overwhelming in size. it would probably look better with bigger rims to kind of even out the visual wieght

true, it only has been a couple months..but then look at the civic. I just dont want the accord to become a joke like the new civic has, even the si is a joke now

*News Flash* Honda doesn't sell cars to have people modify them. VAST majority of Honda customers don't want to modify their car, they want it to get them from point a->point b as quietly/comfortably as possible. 1 new feature I LOVE on the new Accord is voice command, that kicks ***!

The Si has been a joke since it was a real hatch in 95

What does this actually control? I think I'd get tired of bitching at my car.

"Gas. Gas. Brake. Brake. Right signal. Horn."

I agree. Give the new series another 8 or 10 years with different versions of k engines everywhere in civics, accords, rsx, etc, and we'll have as much fun as we're having with our 90's cars right now. The challenge will be working tighter and tighter engine bays. So what?! We'll get better. Don't worry guys, the time when you could sit in your 70's muscle car's engine bay are over, and won't be back. We'll get used to it.
