Default Tanabe Racing Medallion comments/question

I just got my tanabe racing medallion installed. I am very unpleased with this exhaust. My friend has one on his 00 civic SI. His sounds nice, deep and loud as hell. I was a little reluctant to get mine because I didnt want it to be as loud as his. People told me before that they are just as as loud as one another except the R's is a tad bit deeper. Mine doesnt sound loud at all. It is pretty deep but not as deep as it was hyped up to be. The muffler doesnt fit well at all and it rattles the hell outta my back bumper. I had the thermal axel back before and this exhaust isnt much louder than that. I think I am gonna sell this peice. Is the thermal cat back any louder than the thermal axel back? I want an exhaust that is nice sounding, meaning, loud but more importantly deep. I am currently running the comptech 4-2-1 header so are there any that anyone suggests that would sound good with that? How are the thermal cat back and 5zigen with the comptech? Any comments and suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have the thermal cat back and it is perfect blend of deepness and that "tuned" sound. I wouldnt consider it loud though if thats what you're looking for.

Get rid of the stock cat and try a higher flowing unit or a testpipe and see how you like it before you sell the exhaust.

I was just wondering...this might be really wrong but....I realized I purchased this exhaust which was made for the 2001 ls. Is that the reason why it doesnt sound loud or does that have nothing to do with it?

My thermal was made for an LS. NO difference in MOST aftermarket designs between the ITR and LS, they have the same pipe design where as the GS-R is different.

LS/ITR exhausts are the same.

Adjust your exhaust hangers to alleviate the fitment issues.

I have the 3" thermal catback and the thing resonates to the point where it hurts my ears to drive on the highway more than a few hours at a time. I think the TRM has a deep sound from inside the car, but outside it kind of buzzes in vtec.

bumper rattle either due to a loose hanger and exhaust vibration, or a shittily installed bumper. the racing medallion was nice and deep on my car, wonder what's wrong with urs? get a new cat and see what happens i bet you will like it

Have you thought of T1R exhaust... Loud and deep sound, plus it performs great

A friend of mine just informed me that I may have a clogged cat. You think that is possible and if so, would it make the exhaust a lot quieter?

Has anyone added a test pipe to their car with the Tanabe? If so, how does it sound. Does it get a lot louder? Does the tone change at all. I dont want it to sound shittier (higher pitched). Again, I have comptech 4-2-1. THanks!
