Default PR3 not revving past 7000 or so why???

I have a PR3 ECU on a D16Z and I can't get it to rev past 7000, I have tried 3 different chips all of them stop around 7000 for some reason, is there something causeing this or is my ECU bad??? I have no engine check light, I previously had a LS computer box and used VTEC on a switch, and revved to 8,000 all day long.. Helpppp Pleassse

I didn't know D16Z even revved out that high. Do you have a automatic computer or something I have the same problem right now with my b16a buts its because I have a automatic computer in it.

Okay I don't know why you are running a PR3 on a SOHC motor but that's not my business.... Have you checked the VTEC pressure sensor?? If your ECU see's that there is no signal for VTM coming in then it will not allow you to rev over 7000... I would think if it was an auto prog then you would be getting an automatic transaxle lockup code... Peace

Ok I figured it out.. (((Yes the D16Z can rev to about 8,200 before the valvetrain is at its limits...))) Also I was running the PR3 to controll my VTEC, cause I got tired of having it on a switch and only having one fuel map... The problem was (dumbass me!!!) I forgot about the distributor, the single cam one has a different CDI pickup than the twin cam one, so the computer box was freakin out.. . But I changed out the trigger and everything works good now, revs to 8,000 no problem got VTEC working, so now I was able to tune the fuel maps for high and low cam. . Thanks for the replies.. .

Yeah stock cams.. It pulls all the way through 8,000 RPM, the cams make good power just has to be well tunned. . I use hondata and my buddy that owns http://www.pyr-racing.com has a motech wide band O2 that we use for tunning... VAFC is good if your running an LS computer box and you want somthing to controll the VTEC for you, but if your running a VTEC box then the VAFC is not a good idea because it prevents the ECU from switching to the second fuel and timing map that is used when your car is running on the high cam.. If you hjave a computer box that will controll VTEC, your better off getting hondata...
