I got 97 lx friday. On sat my gas pedal started to feel off. While the car is in neutral if i take my finger and move the pedal to the left(yes i can move the pedal left to right with my finger. Missing a bolt?
) but when i move it to the left not forward but just left the engine revs up. How its positioned now i can't put the accelerator the the floor. But if i move it over to make it centered the car revs. Any ideas? Im thinking throttle cable or throttle body related. Maybe loosen the cable slide the pedal then re adjust?

 

How about the throttle pedal pivot bracket is worn out or broken... you replace this and your problems should go away. Your gas pedal doesn't move from left to right from a bad T/B or cable.
