Default LSVTEC do I need a tune?

Hey guys I have a ls block on a 2000 gsr head in a 1997 Civic hatch. Everything else on the car is stock at the moment. I’m hoping to turbo at some point but I can’t afford to turbo and tune rn. So I was wondering if I got a p28 ecu with a conversion harness and ran just a stock base map if it would be fine. Then I could save some money and get my turbo setup and tune it later when I have the money. Any information helps thanks.

You can get away with it, but you shouldn't run it hard without a proper tune. The Hondata forums have "street tunes" that may match your setup. Browse there to find the closest tune to your setup.

I have a number of tunes that I've done on various ls-vtec engines, if you need a basemap on Crome I send them for $25 shipped to anywhere in the US. If your interested you can pm me or I also have an add on offer up for basemaps under user name "T-Rev"

I'd get a basic basemap made for your setup specifically by Xenocron. Wouldn't cost as much as a full tune.
