Default hondalink?

I just bought a 2016 honda CR-V EX.

I see there is a HondaLink/Link Connect on the screen but have found little info the manual, reddit, google. I'm wondering how to use it. I have a samsung S8 phone. i see there are usb and HDMi ports. when i click the hondlink on the screen it just says it cant connect over bluetooth, although my phone is already connected to bluetooth and i can make calls

ideally id like to use hondalink to us emy phone for navigation if possible...

or if there is a 3rd party app or hack thats available?

On that vintage CR-V, it seems HondaLink is only good for scheduling maintenance with the Dealership. This is not an audio/video interface. Mostly just information about the vehicle. Yes you need an App for this to work.
