What happens with insurance when you get into a car accident with a JDM front end?
Hey all,
Someone just backed into my JDM-front teggy and I was wondering if you guys have any experience with how insurance evaluates the situation. Do they even look up what the original car is supposed to look like when they underwrite? Or is a cracked headlight just a cracked headlight to them?
TIA

List price on brand new USDM parts is probably going to be more than used JDM front parts, IMO.
They just go off the value of the car for the most part. Likely, since most integras range from 1,000$ to 2,500$ value the car may almost be considered totalled. I was paid 1,000$ for my 91 integra, kbb said it was worth more like 750 (270,000 miles), when it was wrecked in an accident that was not my fault.
you have might have to tell them, if its your insurance (cuz hit and ran off w/o leaving their info) you have to have coverage for custom parts.
Well if its totaled get whatever they pay you then request you buy it back, it will be dirt cheap to buy it back, iv done it with my Accord I got a check for it totaled then bought the car back for $450 then sold the car after I replaced the rear trailing arm and sold for $2,600 or something.
I told my insurance all the modification that was done to the vehicle and my agent did saw the vehicle in person to verify (JDM front end, motor, trans, etc.) I have full coverage that also cover stolen or damage items. My insurance told me to keep pictures and all receipts. If something happen they know how much those parts cost. My insurance does cover it.
