P1457 Code???
I own a 2003 Civic LX Coupe with only 89k miles. I am getting a P1457 code and have replaced the fuel cap and the Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid. (EVAP two-way valve/bypass solenoid valve) and the code P1457 continues. Any of you here have any ideas what I should try next? I have no way to perform a smolke leak test. Going crazy here in NH.
The same solenoid that you replaced on the canister exists under the air filter housing in the engine bay. If its not that then all that's left are the hoses or their connections.

NDNV Luckily the bolts holding the valve to canister were easy to get off & re-usable. Does the canister also go bad and is a possible P1457 code spitter?
thetut. In the process of changing out the solenoid (rains came). First thing I found when taking off the air cleaner was 2 handfuls of chewed acorns and shells.. I live in the country btw. I have some of the same crap in the canister in front of the air cleaner assembly. I shook it every which way possible and there is still a little left that I can't get out. Is that canister a replaceable part? Thanx again.
thetut: It's the good sized box (similar to the air cleaner box), I think its called a cold air resonator. I'm pretty sure a couple chips of acorn mess ain't doing no harm. Air comes in thru intake tube-then to this(resonator)- and into the air cleaner. Sorry, no pics.
I have this same problem on my '05 LX. I know for a fact that my canister is air tight, the solenoids there are air tight and working. Canister purge valve, canister vent solenoid all work using a 9v battery as a power to test. The only thing i have left to check is the EVAP tank pressure sensor and its connections. This requires to drop the gas tank. So i wont be checking that anytime soon. The following link is what i think the problem is.

Red-faced reply. I spoke too soon. I guess it took longer than I thought for my car's computer to cycle (and spit out that same damn P1457 code). I was sure I had cured it, but obviously NOT. I still appreciate your help and have another question (or two) if that's OK?.I can't believe that at only 90k this car is giving me fits. It has been well taken care of and does not look it's age (top. bottom or inside). So is this 2003 Civic one of the "bad" years or am I just jealous that everywhere I see Civics with 200k on them. I am about to give up. Thanks, Johnny
I FINALLY fixed the problem. I first replaced the :"2 way shutoff valve" on the driver's side of the canister. That didn't solve it. Next I replaced the "purge valve" under the air cleaner,That didn't work. Then I changed the "shut off valve" on the passenger side of the canister. That WORKED!!! I took the entire canister out to replace that last part. Good luck and if I can help, let me know.f
