Carb to fuel injection engine swap HELP
Hello everyone i'm new to these forums but i'd like to get straight onto the point if thats okay.
Got an 89 civic ED3 with a d15b3 carb.
Found a Delsol with a JDM 1.5 Vtec d15b for cheap as a donor car for the engine + wiring harness and want to swap everything from that car into my ED.
Here are some facts:
- Cant use another ED/EF thats already FI since they dont exist here apart from the dohc ones that are super expensive.
- Want to go as low budget as possible.
- Wont sell the car and buy another (it was my dads, had it since new).
- Engine is on its last legs, 250k+ miles, oil consumption is at 1 liter every 2.5k miles
- Country laws wont let me swap in an engine thats got more than 30% of the original engines power so cant swap b series or the dirt cheap h series ( in my country you can find a bad condition prelude with 500euros, while similar shape EF sedans(EDs) go for 700-1500 with a 1.5 carb :/ )
------------------------------------------------------
I found a guy in another forum that used an out of tank fuel pump for the conversion on his EG, he didnt mention anything about fuel return lines though, and i was wondering
(1) if its actually possible?,
(2) To my understanding carbs don't have return lines?,
(3) If not can i weld a fitting on the fuel tank for the return?
Thank you for your time and thank you for your help, I really want to keep the car and i dont think its worth to swap in another carb engine in it, i use it as my DD.
