Default Parking brake spring problem

So when putting my Accord back together (see 'dropping gas tank' thread), something went a bit wrong. The little dowel/tab on the caliper the parking break spring hooks on to came off. I have it, but not sure how to secure it back in. It's also a little bit bent. I took it for a test drive without it, and while the parking brake sets and holds fine, there is a light grinding sound from that wheel, as if the brake isn't completely disengaging. Could that be what's going on? Is that spring needed to make sure the parking brake completely disengages? And if so. any suggestions to get the dowel inserted and secured back into the caliper? Many thanks as always! This is the final step in getting my Accord back on the road.
