Identifying authentic bare "B18C5" head, what to look out for?
Hello fellow ITR owners. Before flaming me, I did my research
I'm in the midst of purchasing a B18C5 head (apparently), but I want to make sure that I'm buying a legitimate B18C5 and not a B16 head. Besides the mild port & polish, green paint on the dizzy side, dual valve springs (but this head is bare).. are there any other differences if it's just a bare head? I'm looking to buy this as a spare and rebuild it for my ITR.
Also ...what is a reasonable price YOU would pay for a bare B18C5 head?
Re: Identifying authentic bare "B18C5" head, what to look out for?
The casting is PR3 like the B16 as well.
I do not believe there aren't any casting differences and if the head is bare I suppose the only way to tell is by the throat down by the valves.
But I don't think I could identify the difference unless I had a known good B16 head to compare it to.
As far as price, depends on the area, and if they have any documentation to prove it's authentic. If it's completely bare and was advertised as a 99 Si head, couple hundred bucks as long as it hasn't been machined heavily and no known bolt issues. Not sure a Type R head without 100% certainty is worth a whole lot more.
I have a 01 ITR head (thats bare) wrapped in plastic at home. If I remember I can take pictures if you want something to compare it to. (if interested)

Thanks guys I could definitely use more pics! Especially of the intake runners.
