There is someone that he has tried on B16a 81mm 9:1 ultra street vs victor x??
my rev limit is 9600 now with victor x and pro1 cams...
finally pro 1 cams is everywhere better than itr...
my question:there is a case to lose power after 9000??

Is the reason for your questions the fact that the power is dropping after 9000rpm ?

Not only after 9000 generally after 8000

Post the dyno plot. I dont think is possible with a victor x + pro1 for power to drop after 8000.
I mean both the cams and the intake manifold are best at 7000 untill like 10500.
Maybe you are starting to hit .63 housing top max flow? If it does it only at high boost it may be this.
And its different from droping only torque to drop so much torque that even power drop as rpm raise.
If it does it at medium boost too its probably something else.

misunderstanding...
now I have victor and I have not problem after 8000...I mean if I switch from victor x to ultra street if I will lose power after 8000 or more....

No, not in conjunction with the Pro1 cams and the GT35. Your torque line should be solid until at least 9500.

Low compression with the 1.6 probably isn't helping the overall build, but I understand it's more intensive to change a set of pistons than an intake.

I'm not sure how you got that conclusion out of what I said.

The Ultra Street would probably be a mild improvement over the Victor X, mostly in the midrange. Personally I wouldn't spend the time or money on the manifold swap and retune though, in the overall scope of your build I think it will be relatively inconsequential.

I want better response after every shift this is my biggest goal with a smaller intake!

Smaller intake at this point isn't going to give you what you want. The S2 Ultra Street also is not smaller than the Victor X. Your problem is low displacement, low compression, and a large turbo.

  • Keep the Victor X
  • Keep the Pro 1 cams (try retarding the intake cam in small steps and see if it changes the power curve)
  • You might be out of turbine flow IF on a 0.63 housing
  • How much boost ?
  • Does the boost hold till ~9000 rpm or does it drop off ?

You could also have another restriction in the system like an intercooler, intercooler piping size, downpipe size, air filter etc.

**Edit I think you were asking if there is any benefit of the Ultra Street over the VictorX. If that's the question then Yes it will probably give you more mid-range but power will peak earlier and drop off sooner vs the Victor X which is designed for 7000 - 10 000 rpm. A big turbo B16A is never going to have strong mid-range so its not worth the cost or effort if you focused on maximum power.

This is exactly my question about these 2 IM.
If I try to go with 0.82 housing and ultra street???

Then you get more top end peak power, but no better response and even less midrange. Or may still drop off at the same point, also

The skunk2 will have better area under the curve. IMHO the Victor X has runners too short for most setups.

Squirting a super soaker at a house fire will help too, but it isn't going to put out the fire.

Id go crazy and convert it to gtx3571 gen 2. It will hit 600 hp and will be much more responsive from GTX35 compressor by A LOT.
And you can sell your gtx35 compressor backplate compressor housing as an upgrade kit to someone that actually wants 750-800 hp.
Plus since the new compressor wheel will have more RPM on the turbine shaft for the same HP you reduce back pressure since the turbine wheel will swallow more.
Youll need more boost tho and might have the same backressure at the end but still MUCH lighter and much more efficient compessor wheel for what you want.

My turbo is gt3582 not gtx and I don’t want to try different turbo...I know the route if I want to spent so much money...As we discussed already I need little more mid range...I believe skunk2 ultra street will be better everywhere but I want someone which he has done back to back comparison...

The difference will be negligible.

What throttle body and exhaust manifold?

Smaller TB and shorter exhaust manifold will make more of a difference IMO

Smaller runner manifold would help bring the turbo "on" sooner too. Ramhorn manifolds usually utilise 1.75" or 2" runner diameters whereas even a 1.5" mini-ram will make for much more responsive setup.

In other words, everyone..... Neither IM will help, nor will the turbocharger and exhaust manifold combination you have. If you want a better torque-band on a B16, change the setup. Plain and simple.

You said for my set up victor x and ultra street is the same????????You're kidding, I believe....
how is that possible such a huge IM make same mid with ultra street with longer runners can you explain with examples???
