We have a 2003 Honda Accord. The battery died and we got a new one. After I installed it, I noticed that all the illumination, in the center of the dash stays on. Even after the car has been locked. The radio is off, all interior lights are off, but all the buttons for the radio and environmental controls are lit. Now i know why the old battery died.
I went and pulled each fuse, until I found the one that turned off the lights. I then switched it with another fuse that was the exact same one and the lights came right back on, so i am guessing that it is not the fuse.
1. Smh... a fuse wouldn't cause the illumination to stay on.
2. Was it under-dash Fuse No. 30 (7.5A) that you pulled that turned off the lights?
If that is the case, you may have an issue with the ignition switch contacts or the Blk/Red wire leading from the ignition switch to the under-dash fuse box.
So I pulled fuse #30 and the lights stayed on. I did pull fuse #5 (10A) for the radio and the lights went out. I suppose I could pull that fuse completely and be without the radio. Until I figure this out. At least it won't drain the battery.
Under-dash fuse no. 5 (10A) is suppose to be hot at all times. If you re-insert under-dash Fuse No. 5 and pull under-hood Fuse No. 4 (15A), do the lights go out?
I pulled all the fuses under the hood, yesterday, and the only time the lights went out is when I pulled fuse #15.(40) Back Up ACC. I did switch it with another 40 fuse, just to see if something was funky with the fuse and the lights came right back on. So I put everything back the way it was.
