Power Door Locks only works on Driver's Door
Hi, I have a 1996 Honda Civic EX with an aftermarket alarm. Both the alarm button and the power lock switch only lock/unlock the driver's door. Could all of the other actuators have gone bad or is there somewhere that I can check a single point of failure to the other doors?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Likely a broken wire at the driver's door. Likely one-source culprit. But download the service manual and follow the troubleshooting steps to avoid frustration and to fix it properly.
Thanks for the help. I actually pulled off the door panel on one rear door, checked the power connector and it was fine. So looks like 3 actuators ... I'll be swapping them out this weekend.
I don't think it will be the actuators. you can check for power and ground when hitting the switch on the other motors to check them. The drivers door actuator has its own connection to the door lock module. The other 3 share the same connection to the door lock module. Pin 2 (yellow/red wire) on the door lock module goes to the passenger and both rear door locks. this will probably be the wire that is broken/shorted.
Thanks .... I will look the wire today also, but the connector on the rear passenger door had power both when hitting the lock & unlock button.
I suspect you haven't done enough homework yet. Troubleshoot carefully and logically before throwing money at a problem. This is true for cars as much as for life in general.

**** UPDATE ****
It turned out to be all 3 door actuators. The passenger front/rear were a bit hard to remove the 3 little screws since they had thread lock. However, I managed.
The driver's rear was a nightmare and I simply could not take out one of the screws, I even tried cutting off the screw head and it would not budge. So, for fear of making it worse (the original screw is now a frozen stem) I opened up the casing (5 screws) and simply replaced the actuator motor.
Wallah !!!!! All of my power door locks are now working.
Thanks Everyone !!!!!
