Default Radiator fan relay (EG)

I have a 1992 cx hatch. I'm finishing up the wire tuck on the passenger side, and realized I had one missing plug. I traced the wire and got continuity to Relay 3, so this is the radiator fan switch plug. I installed a new radiator and fan recently, which gets power from the engine harness, but has no provisions for the aforementioned plug. I was under the assumption that the fan would turn on once the ECT sensor on the thermostat housing reached a certain temperature. If anyone could help explain the wiring for the radiator fan relay/switch and what i should do about the relay and such I would appreciate it greatly.

I will pull up the diagrams from the 92-95 ETM... Hopefully I remember to do this tonight for you. I'm bad about forgetting stuff after my long drive home.
