I did a search of the threads and couldn't find one addressing the problem that I'm having. When I start my car up (1993 Honda Civic Hatchback), my radio and cigarette lighter do not always power on right away. Sometimes it takes a few minutes (anywhere from 1 minute 10), then they turn on and will stay working until I turn the car off again. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? I checked all the fuses (dash and under hood) and everything seems to be ok. A relay issue perhaps? I'm not great with electrical stuff, so any help is appreciated.

previous owner GHETTO RIGGED the wiring. Remove the trim piece around the ashtray pocket/cigarette lighter socket as well as the radio harness. Likely, someone hacked the wiring at or near those two locations. I would advise to have someone knowledgeable help you address the issue.

 

Very strange indeed. First thing I'd look for is ... what he said ^^^^ . Open up the wiring and take a gander. Shyte wiring for aftermarket radio? My first guess.

If you're not adept at electrical, just unhook your batt before proceeding. Not gonna blow anything up that way.

 

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I'm thinking that has something to do with the aftermarket radio wiring. I'll pull the radio and check it out.
