Default F22B2 won’t stay running

Okay so I got this 95 accord with a F22B2 in it (guy I got it from said it’s a junkyard motor) and if you start it with no coolant in it it idles fine and sounds great. But if you put water in it and start it, as soon as it cycles through the block it’ll sound like **** and just die unless you keep the RPMs up. Dude told me he though the head gasket could be causing it, but I changed the HG and it does the exact same thing. So any suggestions about what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

If the headgasket was blown then the head and even possibly the deck are warped.
Did you verify the surfaces were flat and true?
A new gasket won't fix a tweaked deck.

It showed no signs of being actually blown. The guy who told me that it was blown was just guessing. The head and block mating surface appeared to be fine also.
When he bought the car it had an F20B in it, he took that out, found a stock motor at a yard, swapped it in and when it started running like **** he said he didn’t want to mess with it so he just sold it

Update:
Ive been driving the car around the past few days and if you get in and start it, it’ll idle (not great) but it’ll stay running. It’ll be able to idle for about two or three minutes, and then like at the first stop sign I stop at, it’ll want to die if I don’t keep the rpm up.
If I shut it off and restart it it’ll just do the same dying thing, but if it gets shut off and I wait like 10-15 minutes the cycle repeats and it’ll idle okay until the rpm starts to drop a couple minutes later.
