I recently placed an order for brake parts from Rock Auto.
2dr 2000 Civic EX.
1.6L SOHC, Automatic.
Manuf date on VIN placard on door frame pillar is 1/00.
I provided all the above information in my order. The shoes below reflect "EX" but it appears that the discs and pads they sent me do not reflect "EX"
When the order arrived the rotors were too small to fit over the hubs. The pads were too wide to fit in the calipers.
I had to go to AutoZone for the correct discs and pads. I gave the same information to the desk at autozone. The discs and rotors fit fine.
I have not been able to find a good cross reference on these parts to see what might have gone wrong.
Can anyone help me confirm that these are the wrong parts for my car according to the screen grab above?
It may not matter much if RockAuto stands firm on policy since I'm beyond the 30 day return. But I'd like to think that if were their mistake
I might ask of them a store credit. They do not appear to have any customer contact information. How can I prove that they were provided with the correct ordering information from my end?
If all else fails, would you recommend I post them for sale on this forum? What should i ask that is reasonable to cover shipping, etc, for a quick
and reasonable sale? I'll take a beating. I just hate the idea of throwing them out
you need to pay attention to what you order on rock auto. part of the cheap parts comes from no hand holding on their end. knowing your car is an ex, why order parts marked for trims not including ex?
A lot of the information on their website isn't correct. You have to verify the part number and info with either the company's website or other online stores. Had to do this with a few orders from RA.

Ah, yes. I'll own that. I returned to the site and looked up the parts again using my info. I should have filtered the results page. At the least I should have read the list of models under each part. I was in a hurry and it appeared as if all models were covered.
It was an honest mistake though. I'll contact support email and hope for any remedy at all.
7-8yrs ago, I ordered Bendix brake pads for my 96 Civic DX.
The RockAuto parts description indicated that they were compatible w/ my vehicle.
When I went to put them on the car, they simply did not fit. I notified RockAuto and they sent me out the correct
Bendix pads at no charge and allowed me to keep the incorrect part, which the rep suggested I sell on
eBay. I still have them BTW.
In another case, I ordered a Walker muffler and the parts description indicated that I needed
a separate heat shield and strap fasteners. So I ordered them. When the muffler came, it already had a heat shield
welded on. I notified Rock Auto that the description for the muffler needing an accessory heat shield and
the compatible strap fasteners was wrong. They credited my acct for the cost of the heat shield and straps.
Still have those too.
I actually bought the crankshaft for my current turbo setup from RA. On their website, it's $179, no core charge. Everywhere else.......$250+ AND your core. Yeah, no brainer there...LOL
I doubt you will have any issues returning to RockAuto. The only thing I will warn you about, is the will take out the return shipping from the refund amount. Also, i know sometimes they will refund the amount in the form of a store credit....so just check on that if you don't have anything else you want to buy.
I get a lot of parts from RockAuto and haven't had a single issue with them.
Yes, I did order the wrong parts. I own that. I missed a window that asked me to filter my results. I also wasn't careful in noting that EX was not among the models listed.
I did contact them and they were gracious enough to offer to return the disks for store credit. Im fine with that. I'll do the math and if the return ship is eats the credit I'll just have to
keep them and chalk it up to my own bad judgement.
Probably better off just selling locally rather than sending heavy **** through the mail. Chalk it up to lesson learned.
But it is really handy to hear about RockAuto's attention to customers' email if the info on their site is wrong. I had an alternator belt from them for my 93 Si that was the incorrect length, but it is stated on their website that it fits. It didn't (too long, and squeals). I didn't check against OEM length before ordering. Problem fixed now with another belt but I also didn't see any simple feedback forms to inform them of the issue.
