Tried to look some of these codes up. Unfortunately i find different answers or no answers at all. The information ive been given is very misleading. I have a 93 civic hatch. It has a JDM D15B in it, block has code PM3-3. Apparently the block is from a d16 (from what i read) and no idea what the block off is for in the back . Either dual carb (is this a thing) or for the vtec selonoid. Found no information whether this specific engine is vtec ready or not. I have not taken the valve cover off yet. Pics provided. Any insight into what i actually have engine wise would be awesome! TIA!
My d info isnt what it use to be but that doesnt look like any vtec solenoid port i’ve seen. That motor looks very similar to the usdm D15B7 non-vtec. Usually vtec d series have the spark wires on the front of the valve cover. You can always pull the valve cover and check for vtec lobes.
That is the mechanical fuel pump port for the D15B Carb variant engine. The camshaft has an extra lobe that ran a mechanical fuel pump.
It's blocked off when it is used in a MPFI (fuel injected) car.
Also that is not a block casting code PM3-3, that is the head casting code. Engine head and Engine block are two totally different pieces.
Spark plug holes on the intake side definitely mean it is a non-VTEC head. I think that includes the D15B2, D15B7, and the 8-valve D15B8, and whatever the JDM equivalents were. Your valve cover says 16 valve but you may still want to look inside.
