Default D Series Clutches/Flywheels

Hey guys, just wondering what people are using for their clutch? I'm not at any insane HP, roughly 180. But I'll be driving it as my daily as well as the occasional drag or speedway race. My buddy with a corvette has a twin disc, I don't think I'll be needing that, just wondering what everyone else is using and what brands to go with/avoid

I'm new to manual cars, just curious, why stay with stock? Wouldn't race applications be a little hard on it?

only making 180hp but you want something super stiff go for a stage 3, you want something fancy like a twin disc look at CC.

I'm going to be going higher than 180hp, just haven't got there yet. I don't think I need a twin disc, they are rated for 1000hp. I was simply asking WHY you recommend sticking with stock. Not saying I won't, just getting some input from everyone on here

Go with the lightest / lowest stage clutch that will meet your goals. I would recommend a sprung disc for streetability, whatever you choose. Competition Clutch bases their clutch ratings on torque OVER stock. For instance, their stage 2 single disc clutch is rated at an 80% increase in torque OVER stock, so for a D16Z6 which makes 106 ft-lb of torque stock, the stage 2 clutch would be good up to about 190 ft-lb of torque [106 x (1+0.8)]. Their twin disc is rated at 300% over stock, so 424 ft-lb of torque.

I'm building for boost, so I went with a Competition Clutch stage 4 clutch with a sprung disc. The pedal feels heavier than stock, and the engagement is quicker than stock, but this clutch should be good for up to about 370 ft-lb. It's not something I'd want to be daily driving in heavy traffic, but it's manageable for the driving I plan to do with it.

I've used Duralast and Exedy in stock rebuilds, both with good results. For increasing power, I've only ever used Competition Clutch (current) and Clutchmasters (a long time ago).

'roughly 180' to 'going higher than 180" . doesn't not sound the same. If you have 180bdhp now and plan to have more and don't know what that number is it can be hard to gauge what clutch to use.

idk about you pal, but I don't want to change out clutches every time I do something to my ride. I just finished putting my mini me together enough to start it and tune it. I will be putting more parts in shortly, but I also don't want a stage 5 clutch when I'll burn through it before i even get to that much torque. I'm looking for people's recommendations, you recommend stock, which is still something I might do. Because CURRENTLY I'm around 180, but SOON i will be doing more to it, which will increase my power output. One is present tense, the other is future tense. Thank you for your recommendation of keeping it stock, however since this is a modified car, I wasn't looking for that, looking for what worked for others and what didn't

For stock/low power applications, Exedy or Competition Clutch would be fine. Don't cheap out with that ebay CRAP...XTD.

How high would you consider low power? I know it's low right now, just don't want to have to buy a new one before this one is bad due to HP limit

well...I meant to say if you're planning to keep it simple with headers, exhaust, intake, no engine mods....just get one of the two that I mentioned. If you do plan on building up the engine and going the F/I route, go with at least a ACT HD/SS

Look into action clutch, their descriptions for each stage clutch will give you a good idea of what to go with, they have full disks, pucks, and kevlar from a variety of different pressure plates. I have the 1ms on my bolt-on b16a, never slipped when I use to autox, a little heavy for the street but i like my clutch to push my foot off the floor so
