Suggestions needed: Is this head no good? P72 From Hmo
Looking for some help and answe
Just received this p72 gsr head from a reputable dealer which i'm not going to mention at this time until i get some opinions. Paid $700 shipped. When i 1st purchased it was suppose to be a fresh 2000 gsr head that he was going to take off a b18c because bottom end was no good, told him great he hooked it up i paid and waited for head to arrive which he said in about 2 weeks he still had to take the head off, i said cool can you ship me tracking # and invoice to my email. I contact him to get a follow up and so he can resend the tracking # again cause i never got it, he fixed my email was a letter missing, i said thanks.
So i call him up again to ask him what's going on with the head, and he tells me "Hey my shipping guy shipped you the wrong head, it's actually a little better it's already been machined and it also got new valve stem seals installed by my machine shop, so go ahead and keep it, i was like cool man thanks, does it still come with the valve cover he's like yeah you still get it. So i was thanking him him for the hook up you know what i mean, Any way i got the head yesterday and started inspecting and i think it's no good, help me out guy's. I think this head a 96 not a 2000? does it look to be machined? what's with the 2 different valves? also valve cover was cracked and their are some rough casting marks (pictured with red arrows).

Casting date clearly shows July 16th 1996. I would send it back with those mismatched valves and combustion chamber damage.

The way OP wrote it, it doesn't sound like it came from HMO but from some other shop. Broken cam bolts in the head too? That's some serious junk they sent you.

I'd really like to see a response from Steve in this thread. I've used and recommended HMO many times in the past, would like to see some solid input that this isn't something we should come to expect from HMO.

Steve doesn't do forums. I'm lucky if he calls back after a few days.

OP Seems fairly stout that this was an HMO transaction. Like I said, I'd want to hear more about this situation as I've been using and recommending HMO almost exclusively up until my last purchase last year.
I haven't been on the phone with Steve in probably close to three years now.

His shipping guy's fault!! period. waiting on my new head. just a simple mistake guys. i would recommend Hmotorsonline all the time.
