Gas light on average milege till empty!
Hello some numbers of MPG from anyone would be 👍.
I have a 1998 civic LX A/T and my gas light lite up for the first time a few dsyd ago. The needle on tje gauge was right at the top of the D4 gear indicator on dash, so roughly an 1/8 of a tank maybe a little more. I've had the car for over a year now and the light has never come on before. Usually I'm get gas around 1/4 tank on thr gauge cuz I've heard and read that going low/empty isn't good for the pump and what not. I'm mainly curious on other peoples gauge reading when there light comes on and also what mileage you got out of whatever amount of gas was left in thr tank. I googled miles that my car should get once light was on and the number was 43 miles left till no go anymore. I made it just over five miles once the gas light came on and the car started to cut out when I went up a little incline then good again once flat then intermittent cutting out again 6 plus mikes into the light first coming on. That number I'll say 6-10 miles doesnt seem legit so I pulled the sending unit and replaced it. I since drove the car till the light came on again to see if the location of the needle on the gauge would be different but it is know at the same spot right at the top of the D4.
Any insite/numbers from your incounters with the gas light would be much appreciated.
Matt.

On flat straight 45mph avg driving Ive gotten a little over 30 miles before I lost my nerve and gassed it up. 97 Civic Ex Automatic
Going around a corner or slight incline it would cough like it runs out, also restarting the engine on anything other than flat ground is more difficult. Its probably just something with the way the fuel sloshes around and sits in the tank at speed vs sitting still or cornering.

I like to gas up ~ 1/2 tank, unless I am road tripping.
In tank pumps are cooled by the fuel in the tank.
I have ~272k on the original pump.

My 1987 Accord LXi light comes on just before needle hits empty mark. Only time I have had it come on I was on interstate 24 and went about 24 miles to the exit for gas. I only pushed it that far because I am familiar with that has station, it has great prices and good quality fuel. Plus cheap fountain drinks, lol
