Default D tranny gear swaps

Hey guys

I have what some might say is a simple question. My question is this. Is it possible to switch gears from a d series cable trans to a d series hydro. What I’m asking is could I for example swap 2nd and 3rd from my 90 L3 trans to my 95 s20 which is a dx. Also is it possible to swap final drives? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think Ds are more limited by shitty gearing than actual motors and that dx trans is awful. Just get a tranny out of an ex, has a 4.25 final vs your 4.05ish existing one.

I’m familiar with th differences in each. My question is are the gen4 civic trans compatible for swapping with the gen5 civics or gen6 even ?

The countershafts are different lengths in the cable and hydro D-series transmissions, so they are not interchangeable. If you don't get the response you want here, try giving Synchrotech a call - they helped me out with some similar questions on the D-series transmission I just put together.

The LSD will fit like MFactory says, but you will have to change the ring gear to match the countershaft.
