New? about spark plugs
My friend just bought a 95ls.. So i did a tune up on it.. It has 130,000 miles. Well when i took the spark plugs out, they were really white and dry.. So i replaced them and checked about 10 miles later and they are already white. Whats causing this..? My quess is leaning out. But car is stock.. Wtf?? Any ideas?
Is it glossy white or just white. Glossy is bad, normal white isnt. If there is slight detonation it will look like very fine gliter on the insulator. Maybe compression is higher than normal because of carbon build up. Was that car well maintained, if not try cleaning it. What plugs did you use, maybe a colder one would help. Did you change the fuel filter?
The above posts are correct, but I also wanted to add that I have seen this when using Fuel injector cleaners or buying gas that has certain additives. Did you use injector cleaner? Maybe try getting gas somewhere else?
I did notice that the distributor was really advanced. So im going check that today and also replace the fuel filter and pump.. I have my stock gsr pump lying around so i will install that. Will post results..
What does "really" advanced mean? More than 2 degrees, more than 4 degrees!?!?! This could lead to detonation but the ecu should retard the timing to compensate.
