Default Good cheap exhaust

Ok this is my first post so sorry if its in the wrong place or whatever, i tried using the search bar but its restrictions wouldnt work with me on my searches. The situation is i bought a 97 civic hatch a couple months ago and the exhaust was cut off at the cat by the previous owner, since its just my beater i was just gonna run it till it died but now my header is cracked and i dont wany to burn out my exhaust valves and kill the car sooner, new stock exhaust would be over $300 so i dont want to go that route so im looking for a decent exhaust thats cheap and not too loud.

does this hatch have cat on manifold? if it does, and you have emissions your options are as follows: 1: buy a used oem b7/z6/y8 manifold, or an aftermarket manifold for the same engines, an oe equivalent cat for a 96-00 civic ex, extend secondary o2 wiring, install new exhaust. 2: buy a replacement oe style cat on manifold, replace exhaust. i would personally go with 1, given as the cat on manifold setup is more expensive. you'll recoup 50-65$ on scrapping the factory converter as well. as to a decent but not expensive exhaust, i'd recommend yonaka.

96-00 hatchbacks only came in cx/dx, so the manifold has the converter on there with the secondary o2 right after it.

assuming it's stock. we're guessing because the OP is missing info.

Yonaka isn't that expensive, but doesn't sound ridiculous

Sorry for my delayed response everyone, i ended up driving the car to preheat the header and dual pass welded the crack with a 6011 stick welder and it seems to be holding up very well so far. Put about 2k miles on it since i posted this.

Try Walker: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...168882&jsn=367

The above is for a 96 Civic DX and displays a "top cat" configuration. I replaced the original cat
20 months ago w/ a Dorman. Replaced the mid-pipe, a Walker, almost 9 yrs ago.
The muffler, also a Walker, has been replaced twice in the last 9 yrs. If the rubber hangers are Honda,
hold onto them. They last forever. Unlike Walkers, which start to degrade wi/ a yr or two.
