B16 Inner CV Joint Noise
Fellow Honda Tech'ers,
I just came across a funny noise in my B16 swapped Civic EJ2, just curious what your take was on it.
So, I noticed a mechanical noise coming from the inner driver's side (LHD) cv axle, but only when coming off and on the throttle. This is the only time I hear this noise; basically when there is a sudden change in torque.
A year again I rebuilt my gearbox and changed the OEM driveshafts to H-Gear driveshafts. Never had a problem for a year and about 20.000km. I only noticed a very small play between the intermediate driveshaft and the driver's driveshaft about two months ago. The noise coming from the axle is not a grinding noise, but just mechanical. The car drives fine otherwise. I suspect the axle has popped out ever so slightly from the intermediate shaft, not enough to disengage it completely though.
Regardless of it, the axle is coming out, worst case I get a new one since I still have warranty on them.
Anybody else experienced this before? Thoughts?
Jochem

You know, now that you mention that, two months ago I did notice some slight side to side play between the male and female connectors of the driver and intermediate axles. It could be likely the bearing has failed in the intermediate shaft. I'll check it out when I'm home next week. Thanks, and I'll keep you posted when I've had a look!
