Default Beauty or Butt-Ugly Aquistion

So its been probably 10 years since I played with Honda's. My last being a 99 Coupe with an LS-VTEC setup that was built by the PO and not built well. Needless to say the entire time I owned it was spent fixing problems with it until I sold it and got away from Honda all together. Well over the last few months Ive been thinking about getting another due to ease of ownership and extremely cheap to modify and have finally pulled the trigger. I traded an old 7 Series BMW that had a tone of problems for this gem. Its a 97 auto-tragic bone stock under the hood with 265k, Seems to run out quite nice......but just look at this thing!!!! I don't even know where to start, the odd part is that this body is growing on me enough to want to keep it as a conversation starter, but I want Honda-Tech;s opinion. Is it just too butt ugly to live with or is it unique and interesting enough to keep. Overall plans are to replace/rebuild stock drive train and DD for the foreseeable future, no swaps or anything other than maintenance and fairly OEM type mechanical improvement. If the D series gives up (Which may happen with 265k) then a simple B series swap may eventually happen just for a little pep, but that's not the plan.
So what does everyone think of it.

Hahah, I'm not a fan of the wheels either........and if I was buying this thing brand new, definitely would have chosen the 5spd. But unless the trans gives out I wont be swapping it out anytime soon.
Thanks for the input

Looks good to me. Its not hard to find any parts you need in a junkyard for these cars for dirt cheap, so I always love to hunt for parts. If the quarter panels are clean and the car is complete under the hood, go for it.

I like to keep a d-series honda around for a bugout car. Great gas mileage and super simple to maintain. Seriously the d16 is the chevrolet small block of over head cam engines

Hah, A truer statement has never been uttered.Love it.
It seems the car was wrecked and has a rebuilt title, but for the life of me I cant figure out where it was hit, whoever did the repair did a fantastic job. Carfax shows the front end but the damn thing is mint under the hood and underneath as far as body goes. So to hell with it, Cheap DD
Thanks for the inputs

You're the second one who's mentioned the wheels, I'm with ya both, they are a little ridiculous. I've listed them on local craigslist and FB marketplace to see if I can get a decent trade for them......its a shame because the tires are literally brand new. PO had them installed 2 days before I acquired the car, He gave me the receipt ! I raised the car back up an inch and a half so they aren't horribly cambered anymore. I'll look for some SI's or something more OEM'ish and certainly an inch or two smaller (these are 17's)
