B20vtec engine light
Hey everyone fairly new to the Honda game. I recently purchased a 1996 Honda Civic ex with a b20vtec in it, p28 ecu with hondata. The check engine light stays on in the car and Has a sputtering idle and seems to be getting bad mpg. Since the car is obd2 but the ecu is obd1 I know I can’t use a scan tool to read the codes. How can I figure out the codes and has anyone had this problem before? All information helps Thankyou.
I believe solid Cel is bad ecu, check the adapter harness and the ECU
also just use a paper clip to jump the service connect and see if the CEL flashes, if it does get the codes

I believe you stick a paper clip that is unravelled into a blue/brown two pin connector that is above the ecu. and watch the cel light flashes. I could be wrong so its best if you do some searching.
Another option as well if it truly has hondata in it (assuming its s300 v1 or newer) it should have a cut out on the side of the ecu with a usb style plug on it that you can connect a cable too (if the previous owner gave it too you when you bought it, if not you can buy one online from hondata) and you can download smanager for free on your laptop and hook it up and read it that way as well as data log or monitor other functions of the car if you want.
