Flashing maintenance light
Hey everybody...I have a 98 accord ex 4dr 4cyc...i'm at 82k and my maint. light was blinkin and now its on for good....i just got my oil change and i figure it would be the oil drippin on the motor because there was smoke under the hood when i checked it out....what do you guys think it is?

i think if you had your oil changed by someone at a local shop and not the dealer, they probably forgot to reset the maintenance light, just hold in the "reset miles" *** while the engine is off, turn the key to the "on" position (not starting the motor) while holding it down, and it should turn itself off...i vaguely recall it blinking a few times before shutting off, i forget, look in your owners manual, its in there, tahts where i found it, good luck
Yes, that maintenance light does not come on because it found something wrong. That's what the check engine light is for. The maintenance light just comes on based on mileage. It will first start to blink to let you know a regular/recommended maintenance is coming up. Then once it reaches the miles where Honda recommends a maintenance checkup at Honda, it stays on solid until you reset it. But like already mentioned, you can turn that off yourself if you want.
